Just One Sing

Just One Sing

(this is a weekly 1-point sermon reflection by Brother York Sing)

Since May 1st 2022, I have reflected on the Sunday Service messages. How? I will pick just one part of the message that I identify with strongly and write a response to that. Of course you may say that this may not do justice to the entire message but the rationale is not to write a critical analysis of the whole message; it’s simply my personal response. It’s also not lengthy so I hope others can join me as it is not too hard to do too.

The heading which I give is ‘Just One Sing’ with the pun on ‘thing’ with ‘sing’ as, to sing is to feel good about things and it is my last name too.

Title: Resurrection Sunday

Resurrection Sunday

If Ps Rama sounded earnest and urgent, he had much reason, for he had much ground to cover, and if refreshing the good news of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday is not urgent, I don’t know what is!

He spent a good time discussing the significance on why Easter Sunday is a most significant event, being the cornerstone of Christian faith. He also quoted scientific evidence that Christ’s burial spot yields new biblical clues about his death, according to the New York Post.

It is what he termed as the veracity of Christianity hinges on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for if He did not all else is in vain.

Next Ps Rama narrated that three days after Jesus’ crucifixion, three women brought spices to anoint Jesus’ body at his tomb as they must have given him up for dead. He said how fearful those women must have been as they approached the burial tomb of Jesus as it was evening, there were Roman soldiers guarding the tomb and a violent earthquake happened as an angel had rolled back the huge stone blocking Jesus’ tomb and revealed himself to them telling them the great news of Jesus’ resurrection. As to evidence of post-resurrection appearances in the Bible, Ps Rama noted 5.

Similarly, no matter what we are going through, whatever trials and tribulations we are encountering for now, we need not be fearful for Christ is risen.

Ps Rama said the most important theme in the Bible is the Presence of God. With His Presence is His Faithfulness such as that promised to Abraham and Sarah. It is His hallmark.

And with that he established three biblical underpinnings of Jesus’ resurrection.

  1. The resurrection confirms His continuous Presence.
  2. The resurrection validates His continued Faithfulness.
  3. The resurrection reinforces His continuous Offer of salvation.

I like Ps Rama’s ending remarks that God is not looking for perfection in man and He does not promise us an easy life but an eternal one. There is a lot in that one-liner.
