Preacher: Bro Isaac Sun
Title: Hannah’s Prayer
Hannah’s Prayer
Before Bro Isaac Sun’s message this morning, he shared a video testimony on a Sister being healed of leprosy. The video showed a hand stretching out behind the woman’s left shoulder when the healing process was taking place. She was completely healed and medical professionals were baffled too. This was literally the hand of God in action.
Today’s main biblical reference was taken from 1 Samuel 1:9-18. Bro Isaac then shared 3 learning points with regards to Hannah’s prayer:
1. A weeping prayer
Hannah was so grieved by her situation she was no longer able to contain herself so she reached out to God weeping. It’s telling God that ‘I can’t but God you can.’ It signifies a total reliance on God on our part and when we weep we bare ourselves to God. There are also 2 instances of weeping prayers in the Bible. One was King David in Ps 6:6-7 and the other was Hezekiah in 2 Kings 20:2-3.
2. Pray unceasingly
Bro Isaac shared that our prayer should be our spiritual breathing. It is like our handphone’s Wifi working in the background. He then asked the congregation what other things do we do unceasingly.
3. A Heartfelt prayer
Hannah’s prayer was also a heartfelt one as she poured out to God. Bro Isaac asked us whether our hearts and behaviour tally in our quest for God.
To Bro Isaac, what’s important is also our actions following our prayers. Do we trust that God has heard our prayer and move on or do we keep opening and closing our drawer which contained our prayer request signifying a lack of trust?
