Just One Sing

Just One Sing

(this is a weekly 1-point sermon reflection by Brother York Sing)

Since May 1st 2022, I have reflected on the Sunday Service messages. How? I will pick just one part of the message that I identify with strongly and write a response to that. Of course you may say that this may not do justice to the entire message but the rationale is not to write a critical analysis of the whole message; it’s simply my personal response. It’s also not lengthy so I hope others can join me as it is not too hard to do too.

The heading which I give is ‘Just One Sing’ with the pun on ‘thing’ with ‘sing’ as, to sing is to feel good about things and it is my last name too.

Title: Pray without Ceasing

Pray without Ceasing

‘Pray Without Ceasing‘ is the Church theme for 2025 and Ps Png set the stage for the congregation.

She started by remarking that nothing is too hard for our God and if we wanted our needs met then we should continue to pray. She then quizzed the congregation on the number of times believers of various religions prayed. From the answers she said that as believers in Jesus we should all do better than the other religions. Not doing enough prayer is to pull God to our level and even with so many distractions in the world, there is no excuse for not praying.

The true answer is not in the number of times that we should pray but to do it often enough like our breathing. It is turning our thought processes into prayers. She then said we should begin and end the day with prayers and how satisfying it would be for her to breathe her last, praying.

If we do it often enough then one outcome is the God we believe in becomes close and personal. Another outcome is God wants us to develop a spirit of dependence on Him. In all that we do the spirit of dependence is to make us strong and to increase our faith. On the other hand, the devil wants us to stop depending on God and would do everything in its power to stop us, so we have to keep a watch-out.

She then spoke on God favouring SCC and the miraculous way He had tasked her to sponsor Mark Hemans to conduct 2 nights of Revival Miracles Meeting in Singapore on the 7th and 8th March 2025.

So why pray without ceasing? We have to admit our limitations and after all, He is our creator and He wants to hear from us. Also if God expects that we will ask Him for things, then it follows that He has the ability to give us what we ask.

God does not discriminate against gender to carry out effective prayers and it is time to ask the Holy Spirit to help us shift our focus to pray without ceasing.
