Title: Navigating Through Life to your Destiny
Navigating Through Life to your Destiny
This morning’s sermon was based on Genesis 39: 1-23.
What a refreshing message and for me, it all came together towards the end! I think it is pertinent that Ps Santar consistently used the imagery of taking flights in his sermon this morning. After all, for most of us, it is not unfamiliar. He began by saying that when God takes us to his desired destinations, there might be no direct flights, the flights might be long, there might be many stops and one must not forget the turbulence too. Through the journeys, God is preparing us for the destinations.
He then discussed the background of Joseph who is key in the biblical reference quoted above. One must not forget that all through the time, the invisible hand of
God is at work.
Ps Santar discussed how Joseph was subjected to the many trials and tribulations in his life and how he handled the crises. He discussed them under the headings below:
- Navigating through rejection
- Navigating through injustice
- Navigating through power
He then highlighted that there were some similarities in the life experiences of Jesus and Joseph, as likewise, Jesus faced rejections and injustice too. However, what was noteworthy was how both men navigated the power they had! Both had power beyond the dreams of most but both chose not to allow malice or unforgiveness to taint themselves through the use of power through vengeance.
It was toward the end when Ps Santar spoke of the above similarity that I suddenly realised how beautifully the church’s theme was woven into this morning’s message. In other word, the gem I found was more of that artistry of how the church’s theme of ‘Do all to the glory of God’ was integrated into the sermon. It was especially so with how Joseph navigated through all that power that was in his hand for he did not seek revenge but acknowledge that God’s hand was behind all the rejections and injustice he had suffered and he understood God’s plan.
Ps Santar ended with 3 positives:
- Never allow rejection to break you
- Never allow injustice to imprison you
- Never allow power to blind you.
Yes, and we do all that to the glory of God!
