Title: Do All to The Glory of God
Do All to The Glory of God
Looking for that gem in Sunday messages has just gotten more exciting as I think about how I should function. It has also allowed me to grow spiritually.
Take this morning for instance. I was privileged to have received the slides beforehand as I would be chairing the Sunday worship and as I viewed the slides I felt it would be a straightforward write-up after the sermon. However, God teased me yet again! It also brought back the conviction that God’s use of man is far from over as digital slides, no matter how visually impactful or content rich can only do so much. God still needs man to flesh out his message. The Holy Spirit still wants to do His work through man.
Preacher Isaac’s message was divided into 3 points and after the brief introduction into the purpose of man taken from the Shorter Westminster Catechism yet again, his anointing was clear as he put flesh and bones into each point. The flesh and bones refer to Preacher Isaac’s masterful elaboration of the 3 points set out below.
- Glorify God by being in union with Him
He specifically highlighted Exodus 17:11 in his slide that ‘as long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning’. Preacher Isaac said that in our walk with God, there must also be physical manifestations of that life in Him. An example would include our prayer life. - Glorify God by ‘living out the Kingdom’s value’
I especially like what he said that we should not just be the light and salt in our church but of the world and he jokingly warned that we might get too salty as a result if we are to confine ourselves only to the church. The other kingdom value is that we should continue to be the light and salt in all circumstances, yes, even in adverse situations. He then reminded the congregation that circumstances and adverse situations are not our God. - Glorify God by being a blessing to others
As Christians we should not confine our blessings to our loved ones at home but to the world too. He pointed that we should not be ‘lying flat Christians’, referring to some youths and adults in a certain country who have given up on the system and are thus lying flat with no hope left in them.
The whole message is one big gem!
