Title: Let Your Light Shine
Let Your Light Shine
Wow! This morning’s message (Biblical Ref - Matthew 5:14-16) was ‘chop-chop’, meaning there’s hardly time to catch an ear breath from the perspective of the listener. It was a message but in the hands of an anointed speaker, God’s words just flowed fast and thick. Rev Rama rocks! And if I felt that way, kudos must also be given to the translator, Zhen Peng, who tried his level best to keep pace.
The message can be divided into 2 main parts; the first a pertinent discourse into the glory of God in such a fallen world and the second, the why, what and where do we as Christians shine on in this world for the glory of God. These are:
- Shine Love in a world of hate
- Shine Character in a world of deceit
- Shine Excellence in a world of corruption
- Shine Boldness in the face of persecution
Indeed the 4 areas were so well illustrated with real life examples that they came alive and left a powerful impression on the congregation I believe. There’s Rev Rama himself struggling to forgive and pray for a church-member who had wronged him, there’s the lady who embraced a different faith but when she saw how changed her colleague was when she became a Christian, she herself forsook her own religion and followed Jesus despite having to leave her community who persecuted her. There was another lady who might have given up her life when she went back to her homeland to talk to her own loved ones about Jesus because she felt nobody else would, even with full knowledge that her own life was at stake.
My gem is the speaker, Rev Rama himself. It’s him living out the quote he made right before my ears and eyes: "When a man is filled with the Word of God you cannot keep him still. If a man has got the Word, he must speak or die." Dwight L. Mandy
