Title: To the Church in Philadelphia
To the Church in Philadelphia
Today’s message had a lot to do with doors, whether they be physical or spiritual ones! And it spoke to me personally for I just made public my desire for God to show me new direction.
The biblical reference for this week’s message was based on Revelation 3: 7-13 and I like the way the ‘revelation’ was done sort of one verse at a time as Pastor Rosie went along in her message. The verses were not revealed all at once and that is one way to keep the congregation hanging on.
Pastor Rosie began with setting the background for her message which was the church of Philadelphia, though small, had the attributes God was happy with. She then went on with the exhortation of Verse 7 which establishes in no uncertain term who Jesus is. With that done, she went on to share how our Lord knows our every breath and if we have breathed well, the rewards would follow, just like the church of Philadelphia.
At the end of the day, even if the door is open wide in front of us, and if we choose not to walk through the threshold, whatever the reasons, we would not experience ‘the amazing grace of enablement for Christ’. The phrase within the inverted commas would be my gem from today’s message.
The other gem was found in Sister Sheue Horng’s prayer that there were instances where people had died but came back to life. However, they still eventually died but only Jesus Christ died but need not die again. It was certainly a sober reminder of the fallacy of our existence on earth.
It is in a big way a very positive message filled with hope that if we get it right with Him, we will be a church that God desires.
