Title: When God Leads
When God Leads
Today’s biblical reference is taken from Numbers 9:15-23.
When an anointed one speaks with the image of a double track firmly edged in the congregation’s collective consciousness, you know God is leading. That double track signifies what it means to have God leading our lives when we are born again, as opposed to the single track when we were running around with when God was not in us. The latter leads us nowhere but the former (although the track might be invisible) would lead us where God wants us to be, but there is a condition - we must be obedient. For every act of obedience prepares us for the next step when God will bless. Ps Santar also peppered the message with relevant personal anecdotes to share with the congregation that he was very much on the same level with them.
Ps Santar said 2 things were clear when God led the Israelites out of Egypt: a new destination and a new purpose. The journey through the wilderness was not a random one but directed by the visible presence of God. He was with them and leading them.
Likewise, when He set us free from spiritual bondage it was for us to work with Him and not by ourselves. However we have to note that having been born again, Heaven is still far so we will still need all the leading and guidance before we are called from the earth to enter the coveted place. The God we believe in is not only a deliverer and provider but also a shepherd too.
Ps Santar then shared 3 principles with the congregation why it is important that God must lead us between being born again and Heaven bound.
God’s presence is constant
He then cited Abraham’s obedience to sacrifice his son Isaac on God’s command. The blessings that followed are well documented.
God’s timing is perfect
Ps Santar said one of the greatest challenges that a Christian faces is not knowing God’s timings. However we must still respect His timings for to rush His promises has devastating consequences as when Moses was with God for 40 days and nights, the Israelites produced their own golden calf to worship in God’s place. Ps Santar shared that God’s delay is not a denial but enables us to exercise our highest level of faith.
God’s leading is indispensable
Ps Santar said the greatest lesson is to let God’s words rule our lives for each step of obedience takes us where God wants us to be. In Him, every obedience is big. Also everyone is important to God irrespective of his/her station in life. Hence it is also crucial for us not to rush ahead of Him less we miss where He wants to take us to. He wants to teach us whom we are following and that can sometimes take us through a narrow door but with Him, nothing is impossible.
In conclusion Ps Santar remarked that with the Old Testament, the tabernacle and the temple are gone and what remains now is our body. His final question to the congregation is “In what areas of our lives are we resisting God’s leading?”
