Title: Who Will Go?
Who Will Go?
This morning’s message looks at the responses of Caleb, Joshua and Isaiah when God calls for people to do His work. The biblical references were taken from Numbers 13:30 and Isaiah 6:1-8.
Caleb and Joshua were part of a band of 12 spies sent by Moses to recce the Promised Land and when they returned,10 of them filed an evil report of the place. While all acknowledged that the land was flowing with milk and honey, only Caleb and Joshua were convinced of the possibility of taking over the place although the current inhabitants there were much bigger than them. Not only that, the 10 also saw other physical obstacles there too. Caleb and Joshua thought otherwise because of their faith in a God that would deliver the Land to them as opposed to the other ten who only saw the natural world order and thus the impossibility.
Isaiah was given the privilege of a glimpse of the mighty splendour of God in His heavenly kingdom and saw for himself how even the heavenly beings that were present there considered themselves unworthy and unclean before a God that was beyond holy, for I know of no word to describe it.
God gave him a glimpse God’s vision before his mission and his submission gave rise to the Great Commission.
In our current fallen world, God still wants His people to be the shining beacon where we stand in the gap to evangelize.
For Caleb, Joshua and Isaiah, they were unequivocal in their ‘send me’ response to God. How about you and me?
