Gospel Is God’s Total Love

This morning’s biblical reference was taken from John 10:11-15.

Dr Tan asked the congregation who they would prefer as their teacher? A mentor or lecturer? A shepherd or tuition teacher? The answer was obvious but it sets the way for him to talk about Jesus’s role as shepherd while he was on earth. 

As he shared who Jesus was to the world, he shared that one verse ‘I am the way and the truth and the life’ was enough to convict and convert him in 1974. It suggested to him God’s willingness to form a relationship with him, much like a mentor would. Jesus was also the bread of life and the light of the world. It just goes to show how God has considered all aspects of our lives to meet our every need.

With anecdotes from his service in Yunnan for 15 years, he peppered his message how we can continue the work of Jesus. In other words by reflecting all that is known about Jesus to our fellow human beings. It also means we not only listen with our ears but with our hearts and eyes too.
