A Saviour is Born
It is always an inspiration to listen to the testimonies of the Christian brothers from Breakthrough Mission how they are delivered from a life of drug addiction and this morning’s testimony was great too.
Ps Sing Sing delivered a message entitled ‘A Saviour is Born’ with the main biblical reference from Luke 2:11.
While he had only 2 slides with 3 points, no one can belittle the power of the Holy Spirit in the message. It was a message relevant to the occasion and one often heard during Christmas but delivered by the brothers from Breakthrough Mission who had fought drug addiction, the three points on why Jesus was born to the world:
- to be your Saviour
- to save sinners and
- to give you peace and hope
became almost palpable and tangible. It was glory to God in the highest.
For example, as a result of drug addiction, Ps Sing Sing himself fell 15 floors and suffered fractures at 7 different places in his body. He was warded for 7 months and had been confined to a wheelchair for 33 years now. He challenged the congregation to try out a life on wheelchair for a day. The other brother who gave the testimony today was sentenced to 22 years and given altogether 50 strokes of the cane as a result of his addiction and he admitted nothing could bring about any change, not even the imprisonment and caning.
The bottom line is this: nobody can rehabilitate an addict who was sentenced to jail for 22 years and given 50 strokes of the cane except God.
