Preacher: Rev Samuel Sia
Title: Seek the Lord, our God
Seek the Lord, our God
I thought it was certainly a challenge to preach this morning’s message.
However, 2 seemingly related gems astounded me and it had certainly raised God’s expectations of me in my walk with Him.
To me, my first gem was found when Pastor Samuel simply stated that the Pharisees before Jesus’s time had a lower standard for the law in the Old Testament. When Jesus came he raised the bar and pegged it with His ultimate sacrifice for mankind.
Then, as the message progressed, Pastor Samuel asked whether the congregation agreed with a car decal with the message “Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.’ Most, I think, nodded in agreement but he disagreed quoting Mt 5:48 and Heb 10:14.
I had grown up with the notion ‘nobody is perfect’ and to be told today that I am perfect is hard to believe. However, I cannot dispute what’s in the Bible and that new notion certainly adds a new perspective with a new standard of living my life for Him.
