In Season Out of Season

The backbone of today’s message is taken from 2 Timothy 4:1-5. The context is Paul’s most likely last letter to Timothy before he died standing up for God. The letter does not bear out the impending doom of Paul to tug at one’s heartstrings but instead carry a powerful reminder to Timothy to do what was necessary.

This morning’s message is a powerful reminder for us as believers to reach out to non-believers whatever the season. It also reminds us that this is no easy task as the people we reach out to may not listen. It tells us that God will not force people to believe as that responsibility is up to the individual, but persevere we must.

My gem from this message is the word ‘intentional’ in our commission. However, Pastor Lam also reminded us to be creative so as not to turn people off right from the start.

In summary, the message ‘charge us’: 1) like what Paul did, through his letter to Timothy charge him, 2) be prepared, 3) to create opportunities and 4) to be prayerful in our quest to be fishers or men.
