Preacher: Sim Yoke Hwee
Title: Now is the time!
Now is the time!
Sister Yoke Hwee preached a solemn message under the seemingly benign title. Her warnings came fast and thick that if we keep procrastinating the things we want to do for God, we may end up in a drought, when He is done with us. It’s a serious message.
So Hebrews 3:15 more than caught my attention this morning. ‘Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.'
I am not ashamed to admit I am stiff-necked in many ways. However to be stiff-necked when it comes to God’s way is something else. When I think about it, it’s not something to be proud of being stiff-necked, whether it’s in our daily dealings with humans or with God, for one affects the other. That is to say when it becomes habitual.
It’s also easy to ascribe this weakness of ours to ‘it’s only human’ and we continue with our ways.
Most of the time now, I am caught with a word, behaviour or thought that I regret. Sometimes it’s an instantaneous razor thin decision not to say or do something. It’s that hard to cope. And I had to bear the consequences of those wrong words and behaviour once they are expressed.
There is thus no way out on my own but to seek Him in all I do, say or think. Things have become that critical. You may think that it’s such a bother to rely on Him but no leh, for the comfort I get doing it is so soothing to the soul. Try Him.
